Every Woman's MUST READ Book – The Longevity Book
There is a book that I feel every women can benefit from reading and it is not about aging or beauty.
I started reading The Longevity Book by Cameron Diaz and Sandra Bark on my last vacation. Several sources had given it good reviews and I thought I would give it a try. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a Hollywood actress but I was so impressed that I feel everyone would benefit from having this in their library. Sadly, we are all reminded that we are getting older each and every day. The makeup aisle encourages us to try new lotions and serums to control the wrinkles and smooth the skin, magazines and advertisements suggest that we will look younger with the help of botox or a new medication, we try new procedures to lose weight and get rid of fat. There is nothing wrong with utilizing the means available to look younger. However, despite all of the money spent looking younger, the cells in our bodies are getting older each day. It is the health of our cells that impact how we outwardly age. The Longevity Book focuses upon the science of aging but presents it in a manner that one does not have to have a degree in biology to understand it. One of my favorite quotes from the book basically shares what we all need to acknowledge about the aging process.Your birthday does not determine how long or well you live. You may share the same birth year as someone else, or even the same birthdate and birth mother, but the way you live will affect the way you age.In short, one can spend thousands of dollars on makeup and procedures so that everyone will think you are 10 or 20 years younger, but your body’s cells still remember the food that has been eaten, the sun that was received and the limited exercise and stress. Each of us may be born with a genetic predisposition to ailments. However, as is explained in this book, many ailments can be explained in a lock and key example. Your cells may be preprogrammed for diabetes or heart disease but until you turn the ailment on via too much of the wrong food, lack of exercise or stress; one does not develop the diagnosis. The Longevity Book does not simply restate data but includes discussions with physicians and other experts from across the country. The science of aging is relatively new and researchers are continuing to learn new information in regards to how and why the body ages. Reading this book provides basic information to why our bodies do what they do from. Why does our hair turn gray? Why does it become harder to lose weight? What is really happening to a woman’s body when she becomes pregnant or goes into menopause? It also focus upon the fact that even though we may have made some not so great choices, we can make changes to improve our life. I’m choosing to not share specifics shared in The Longevity Book, rather I encourage you to place this on your reading list. Become knowledgeable about your body. Accepting that certain things will happen helps us to stop fighting battles that do not need to be fought.
Just because a body looks younger on the outside, doesn’t mean it is on the inside. It is the inside cells that will determine our ultimate fate.
Here’s hoping you have a long longevity!

How are you aging? Are you fighting it or taking care of yourself?

I know you and I have talked a bit about this book, and now I’m even more interested in reading. I can tell a huge difference in my skin just by drinking more water and eating better. It’s amazing. What a perfect book to share for your birthday week!
I’ve been meaning to write this FOREVER and this was a perfect time. I’m so tired of all of us being told to look younger and feel it needs to be about living well and being healthy. If we take care of ourselves, we will look healthy.
I am so interested in reading this!
It sounds like such a great read!
It really is a great read Jessica! Although I work in the medical field, I found it helpful and informative.

It’s a really great read Jenny! Hope you will consider putting it on your list!
This sounds like a great book. I’ve also heard good things about her other book and I think it’s so cool that she’s trying to bring attention to how the body naturally works and ages.
I need to put her other book on my list. She’s not afraid to show that she is aging and I love and appreciate her for it!
Totally adding this to my list. Sounds wonderful!
Yes, you need to add this to the list! Every woman should read it.
I’m adding this to my list….someone recently requested this at my library as I saw it go across the desk. I’ll be checking to see if my Library owns it and if not I will be buying it for our patrons. Thanks for the suggestion!
This is really a great book to have. I was surprised at the helpful information and knowledge. It doesn’t preach, it simply educates. Your patrons will appreciate having it.
Oh, just added to my Goodreads list . . . this is the part that resonated with me the most – and where i need to focus . . .
