What Do You Like?
Could you make a list of the things you like?
I often utilize the journal writing technique of writing a list of 100 likes with my life coaching clients. This list can include anything and everything from favorite foods, clothing, music and places. For many, the first 50 items may be easy to list but as the list grows there may be some difficulty. Women often put the likes and preferences of others first. As a result, one may struggle with answering the question of what they like. It is important to take time and acknowledge the things in this world that bring enjoyment. It is also equally important to make sure you are taking the time to enjoy the items that you like on that list. Over the years I have had clients who initially struggled with listing ten items and others who have loved the exercise. Many have discovered that things they felt they liked were not truly things they enjoyed but what their family, friends or kids liked. I periodically like to make a list as our preferences do change over time. In a form of this list, today I am linking up with The Blended Blog in answering these great summer questions. I often call these questions either/or questions and find it is a great way to get to know someone better (or know yourself better). Take some time to join in answering these questions and while you are at it, start that list of 100 things you like.
- Pool, lake or ocean? I am an ocean girl. The beach is where I belong.
- Camping, cottage or hotel? The joke is my version of camping is at least a 4 start hotel! Although, I would never turn down an adorable cottage
- Favorite ice cream flavor? Graeter’s (ice cream shop out of Cincinnati) Double Chocolate Chip
- P.J’s, Nightgown, T-shirt/Shorts or Birthday Suit? You will find me in a tank top and shorts
- Fave Summer Beverage? This summer it has become a great glass of rosè wine with an iced coffee coming in second.
- Would you rather be hot or cold? Give me all of the hot weather. I can not stand the cold.
- Sandals with heels or flats? You will find me in sandals with heels.
- Shorts or skirts? It depends upon what I am doing. For work I love summer dresses but wear shorts during the weekend.
- Sit in the sun or shade? Sun – anytime/all the time
- Water, tea or soda? I drink over 100 ounces of water each day but have sweet tea on occasion when I go out to eat.
- Fave summer, fruit, vegetable? Watermelon and peaches
- Sunrise or sunset? This is hard for me. I am leaning towards sunrise but there is magic in both.
- Bike ride or walk? Walk
- Winery or brewery? Winery
- Garden or no garden? I must have a flower garden. (I’m assuming flower garden counts.)
- Big summer concert or concert in the park? This is tough but I’m leaning toward concert in the park
- Fave cookout food? Hamburgers
- Big theme park or local carnival? Big theme park
- Fave summer destination? The beach – doesn’t matter where
- Drinks, blended or on the rocks? On the rocks
- Popsicle flavor of choice? Lime
- Hot dog or hamburger? Hamburger
Do you know what you like?

What a fun post! I like these either/or type of questions – and Graeters- YUM! I’m partial to their mocha chocolate chip myself.

Oh yes, Graeters is fantastic. I’ve tried many other flavors but the mocha chocolate chip is divine1
Agree with the camping question!
Sunrises and sunsets are both beautiful but sunrises are my favourite (especially on a weekend when the whole day is ahead).
Oh yes, weekend sunrises are special. I feel like I’m able to fully enjoy them.
Ohh I love this! I need to make a list of my 100 likes. A friend just challenged me to write a list of 100 dreams that I have for myself. That one is challenging! Also I love the this or that questions to get the thoughts flowing. Great post!
Thank Trish! There’s a method behind writing 100 things (contact me and I will let you know). I would start off with the likes first and that will certainly help you with the dreams lists. I sometimes drive my friends crazy with this or that questions! 🙂
I love this or that questi9ns! I will send you a message! Thanks for the help!
Yay, I am so happy you did this lovely lady and I absolutely loved reading your answers and the things you like in the summertime! All The things that make you so special! I am a list maker at heart, I make lists about my lists, Lol! Have a marvelous Monday!
I so glad to have found the link up. I think I know some others who make lists of their lists!! Hope your week is fantastic..
I love these kinds of posts and answering those types of questions! I might have to do a post of likes like that! I’m definitely a hamburger over a hot dog type of gal. 😉
I really think these posts are helpful not just for all of us to get to know one another but for each of us to know ourselves better.
I love this! I may have to do a post like this one. I’d rather walk than go on a bike ride.
Would love to see what your list looks like!!
I really like these ideas – maybe it would be good for me to do one of these – I’m always changing my likes and dislikes though.

I think it helps to give us an idea and sometimes it helps to realize what we really don’t like!! And, there is nothing wrong with changing your mind!
I used to think there was something wrong with me because it was hard for me to answer this question. But over the years, I’ve become more aware of the things I do and don’t like, and I think having these preferences helps define me as a person!
YES Corey!! Being able to answer questions about what you like helps you become more self aware of your needs and preferences. I feel that so many women go along with what others like etc that they do not even take the time to consider what they like.
Double chocolate chip ice cream sounds really good 🙂
It is amazing!!
Thank you for linking up with us and I totally agree that there is magic in sunrise and sunsets!
This sounds like a great exercise to do regularly! My answers to a couple of the questions I remember: I’m definitely a fan of oceans, although lakes appeal to me as well. (Probably a good thing since I live in the midwest.) I’d rather be cold. I just don’t feel well if I get too hot. 🙂
