Red Rock Canyon

During our recent trip to Las Vegas  a day trip to Red Rock Canyon was one of our “new” adventures to take. Less than 20 miles from the Vegas strip, this is what I consider a MUST see. As someone who has lived near the hills of Appalachia and consistently visited and hiked the Smoky Mountains, I had never given much thought to the beauty of a desert. The colors and magnitude of the landscape truly touched me and I felt a very spiritual connection to nature. I truly believe you can not appreciate the true beauty of our surroundings without believing in a higher power. Red Rocks soothed my soul just as standing on the beach and looking out at the ocean does. It was a different connection but something I will never forget. Today I wanted to share some of the photographs. These were taken with my Iphone 6 using both the phone camera and the Camera+ App. I now have a DSLR and can only imagine the photographs I could take. Take a few minutes to appreciate the beauty. Happy Friday! IMG_3780 IMG_3782 IMG_3731 IMG_3741 IMG_3784 IMG_3726 IMG_3742 IMG_3741 IMG_3831 IMG_3744 redrocks3   IMG_3831 IMG_3756

Thanks Stacia, you are so correct – the rocks were simply amazing. It’s almost hard to comprehend (even when you are looking at them).

These are beautiful!!! I grew up in an area of Colorado that’s actually pretty desert-y and I think a lot of people do forget the beauty that’s to be had in a dry climate. I’m keeping this place in mind for our next trip to Vegas. Also, I’m going to check out that camera app!

Sarah, most of my trips out West have always been for conferences etc and I haven’t had much time to explore. It’s truly beautiful and I’m so glad we did this. The Camera + app is the first photo app I downloaded and although I’ve tried others, I still go back to it. Let me know what you think!

Beautiful! I think the 7th shot is my favorite! Love depth and sun that was captured.
