Finally Friday

Water and snow photo Today, Kentucky is in recovery mode from our second 17 inch snowstorm in less than two weeks. Only in my beautiful home state can one have temperatures in 40’s and 50’s and within less than 48 hours be at zero. It can be difficult to believe, but Spring is coming. Underneath the mounds of snow, flowers are preparing to bloom and life is beginning to start again. Today I am sharing a few photographs I have taken with my Cannon 5si that James gave me for Christmas. Perhaps part of my struggle in taking photographs right now is that I truly am not a cold weather person. However, I am attempting to find beauty in the peacefulness of snow and the light of the sun. Most of these photographs were taken at a local park last week. I am fascinated with the ice on the lake and the shadows against the snow. I still have work to do in regards to editing but that will come later. Linking up with a few wonderful photo linkups. Jen’s Photo Friday and Aimee’s Finding Beauty.

Happy Friday!!

17 inches?!?!?! I guess the last time I saw that much, I was living in Kentucky! The Ohio River was frozen over, no school for a really long time, and of course, we were supposed to go to the circus in Cincinnati for my birthday, which was cancelled. Hope you’ll thaw out soon!

There were parts of the state that received 25 inches. It’s been an insane 36 hours here. We just are not equipped for it. Thankfully, the sun is out today (even though its cold) and they are predicting a heat wave of 40 degrees this weekend! Spring is coming! Hope you have a great weekend.

17 inches! My goodness – that is nuts! We had 4-7 and the whole city shutdown!!!

Great pictures – sure makes everything beautiful!

Our state had to shut down. We are just not able to handle this amount of snow at once. Thankfully, it only happens every 13 -15 years. I’m learning to appreciate the beauty but certainly don’t like driving in it.

17 inches! I’ve never seen that much snow in my life!! I’m about ready for spring too though – if there is one thing that ruins an afternoon for me it’s cold rain, and we’ve been getting a lot of that lately — 85 and sunny yesterday, 60 and wet today. 🙁

    I love your photos!

Thank You Kelly! We had a cold rain on Wednesday before it all started. I can’t remember ever seeing this much snow either. Spring is coming!!! Only two more weeks.

Oh my gosh… Two 17″ storms?? That is crazy even by Colorado standards! We haven’t gotten anywhere close to that!! Has the city been functioning? I think even denver would shut down lol. Beautiful pics! I’m with you- im not a cold weather person and although I try to find the beauty in it, this time of year i just can’t stop dreaming about wa weather.

I told you it had been CRAZY here! 🙂 The state basically shut down for a few days but it slowly getting back to normal (if you can get out of your neighborhood). We are looking at warmer weather this weekend and I will be so glad to see all of this gone. It is pretty but I’m ready to see some green grass.

Oh my goodness you weren’t kidding! Were you working from home or no? That is wild!

I cancelled my clients on Thursday in advance so I wouldn’t have to worry about doing it that day. Luckily, I try to keep Fridays as my day so I didn’t have anything I “had” to do. The University even shut down for two days. It was wild

Wow! Well I hope that’s the last of it for you guys! That amount would have totally affected us too and I think we’re more used to it. Craziness! Glad you stayed safe!

So much pretty though! I think the third one is my favorite! So glad there will be warmer weather for all of us just around the corner!

Thanks Amanda. I feel like we are all in need of longer and warmer days – and we are all deserving of it!

This makes me miss Kentucky. I loved living there – reminded me of the area where I grew up. However, my husband is southern boy through and through. He once visited me at my apartment in Louisville (with a lake maybe 100 yards away) and saw people walking on the frozen lake. His response, “Those people are walking on water & they aren’t Jesus. That ain’t right.” The week I spent without power due to an ice storm freaked him out too.

Great photos! Enjoy your new camera and thank you for joining us this week!
