The Best Brunch You Aren't Having In Lexington Kentucky
Brunch is absolutely one of my favorite meals to have. Like most people, I typically go to the same restaurants because I know the menu and love the atmosphere.
When my friend Sarah shared that The Sage Rabbit, located on South Ashland Avenue in the Chevy Chase area of Lexington, had a Saturday brunch I was shocked as I had no idea. I happily joined her on the patio on a Saturday and enjoyed a fantastic, slow two hour brunch. In fact, after a couple left, Sarah and I were the only ones on the patio.
The Sage Rabbit is a farm to table casual restaurant and brunch is served from 9:30 to 2:00 each Saturday. After a week of rainy weather, the weather was perfect for patio time.
The brunch menu is simple and very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in town. It was difficult to decide what to have but I settled upon the Eggs Benedict after discovering the bottom was hashbrowns. For my side item I chose the cheese grits (because I love cheese grits) made from grits from Weisenberger Mills here in Kentucky. Everything about my meal was perfect.
Sarah chose the omelet special with a side of bacon (because, well it is bacon). She reported it was fantastic.
We then added a mimosa to go along with our Lexington Coffee and Tea Coffee. After all, what is brunch without mimosas? Additionally, I love any drink that comes in a beautiful glass.
All of the food was fantastic and our server was attentive but not overly attentive. Sarah reports that her previous visits had been the same with excellent high quality food and very few customers. It was a win for us as we didn’t feel pressured to give up a table (which does happen in other restaurants). Part of me was hesitant to share this beautiful spot for fear it will be discovered. However, this brunch gem is too good not to share. I know many people do save their brunch plans for Sunday but this is worth changing days.
If you live in or around Lexington, Kentucky place The Sage Rabbit on your list for a Saturday brunch. I promise you will thank me.
Do you love brunch as much as I do? What are your must have foods and drinks?

Ooh thanks for sharing. It sounds like a great place to brunch and personally, I DO love to brunch. 🙂

Well, we’ve definitely gotta get back there! We’re going to a wedding twenty minutes away from Lexington in a few weeks so maybe this will be our day after brunch spot!
I really think you will enjoy it! Hope you can schedule it into your trip.
