An Abundance of Blessings

This weekend has been one of those times in life where I simply feel saying “Thank You” does not seem enough. I began celebrating my birthday on Thursday and continued with an abundance of blessings throughout the weekend.

Although I thought of my Mom and Nanny, this was the first birthday where I did not have the pain of missing them and wishing I could hear their voices. I was able to smile at the memories of past birthday parties and the thoughts of the homemade birthday cakes made by my Nanny. I am thankful for the wonderful life and family that I was given and the blessings of friends and the love of my husband.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve basically eaten my way through the weekend in both Lexington and Louisville (and I refuse to step on a scale). I’ve also been able to spend time with some of my favorite people who continue to sustain me and have become my family despite no biological connection.

As if the Sitsgirls knew it was my birthday, I woke up Saturday morning to discover one of my posts was featured on this week’s sharefest! (I’m considering it a birthday present)

I ended my weekend of celebrations enjoying the company of two wonderful friends and the comfort of my friend’s beautiful back porch. (Seriously, it is one of the most relaxing places.)

Beautiful southern porch with walls of windows.

We ended our afternoon lunch with homemade ice cream and blueberry cobbler. (One knows they have a true friend when the friend goes out of her way to make gluten free blueberry cobbler.)

I am humbled by the thoughtfulness and love I have received from those of you in the blogging world  that I have not  had the opportunity to meet face to face. The wishes I have received validated  the importance of acknowledging birthdays and significant days in the lives of friends.

I end this weekend full of gratitude and begin  the new week with Emily’s grateful heart  link up and hope for the year ahead.

Your weekend sounded similar to mine (however it was only my half birthday…which I celebrated for the first time ever). Glad to hear you had such a lovely weekend. Your friend’s porch actually caught my eye when I first saw the photo- it really is beautiful (and the big, wide open space that it looks out onto as well!). Gorgeous!

Happy half birthday Samara! Yes, my friend’s porch is beautiful and her farm is gorgeous. If it were my space, I’m almost certain I would spend all of my time there. Thanks for stopping by.

I started celebrating my birthday last Thursday, too, and I think I’m finally done. Glad you had a wonderful weekend celebrating. I’m so jealous of your friend’s porch, by the way! I’m stopping over from Ember Grey’s Grateful Heart Link Up…so nice to meet you. Have a great week!

Happy Birthday Christie – one can never celebrate their birthday too long but like you, I think I’m done for the year. I just had to share the photo of the porch, it makes me happy to simply look at it. So glad you stopped by. Hope you have a fantastic week.

Thank You Michelle. Yes, I was so touched that she had gone out of her way to find a recipe to make the desert and I had to share a picture of the porch! Hope you have a great week also!

My friend’s porch is truly becoming one of my favorite places in the world. We had originally planned to meet somewhere for lunch but then I commented that we all needed some time on the porch. It was wonderful.

Glad you had a great birthday weekend! Hopefully next time I’m in Lexington I will remember to let you know instead of thinking about it on the way to the office (sorry!).

Holly – I so understand! My schedule has become so crazy lately that I’m hoping when you are here, I can be available!
