New Month, New Beginnings
I love starting a new month. There is something magical about turning the pages of a new calendar and getting to start again. New days ahead full of excitement and adventure and whatever one can imagine. The truth is that each day is a chance to begin again. August is an odd month. In my part of the country, school for both primary and college begins. It is both a ending of summer and the beginning of a school year. Typically, no one is ever ready for either the ending or beginning. We always seem to want just a little more time. August is the transition to the fall months of football and pumpkins, cool nights and softer weather. The summer girl in me desires to hold on to the next 31 days a little tighter but then I realize it is important to hold on to each of the days. We have set a few goals in our house for August. A return to clean eatting (a birthday allowed for some not so clean eatting). Increased workouts (at least 4 times per week). Time to reestablish goals in regards to professional and personal issues. Most significantly, I hope to take time to enjoy the days ahead. There is something magical about not having to rush around like the rest of the world. As I no longer teach on the adjunct level, I am not bound by a school schedule. My days and weeks are what I want to make them.
Today I encourage you to take time to think about the month ahead.
You have been blessed with the promise of new days and you have the power to make them what you want.
What are you hopes for the month ahead?
Here’s to a great August!!

Here’s to new months and new beginnings. August truly is a month of transition for us as well. Although school doesn’t start til Sept. our school sports start this month so in our minds we definitely begin the transition to a more focused time and reigning ourselves back in from the carefree summer days to a tad bit more responsibility. As for the innings of fall coming, I love that! I wish I could bottle up the mentality of the summer vibes (laid back and relaxed) and place them in the temps and colors of fall. That would be perfection in my world!
I completely agree! Starting a new month is the perfect time to renew your thoughts and focus! So much possibility ahead 🙂 Have a great month!
I’m ready for more of a routine with Ethan and school…I hope it’s not a crazy school year 🙂 haha I personally need to get back to a regular exercise schedule! Here’s to August and a fresh start!
I love that you’re making working out a specific amount of times per week a mindful goal…so many people just say “working out”, take a 10 minute walk, and call it good. And I just don’t think that’s effective.
Beautifully put, as always Sheryl! My goal for August is to get back to blogging and blog reading! Have a great one!
I need to get back to cleaner eating, too. School started in Frankfort today and I saw that KY Bourbon Barrel Pumpkin Ale will be on shelves this weekend. The year is flying by!

SO TRUE, gosh. I am with you on the cleaner eating! I was doing so, so well and then quite a few family parties happened and all of that went out the window. Thanks for giving me an overall pep-talk for a new month, Sheryl!
