It's BACK!!!! Write Yourself Happy Journal Link Up.

Smile and Write

After a few weeks hiatus, I’m glad to be returning to Shannon’s Write Yourself Happy link up. For anyone who is new, this is a weekly journal link up around a provided prompt.

In regards to my hiatus, I also want to acknowledge that there are many times when I do not regularly journal in my personal journal. Not writing daily is one of the biggest struggles that new journal writers have in their journal practice and often one of the reasons why a journal writing practice is stopped and not continued. Gaps in entries are part of your life’s story at the time and need to be accepted. With my own gaps, I can look back and realize that my life was going through an extremely difficult time or an extremely positive time.  Thus, in a way, my lack of an entry is telling.

Today’s prompt  continues with creating lists and is to write down 5 things you can do next week to be more present in your life.

Within the next week I would like to:

1. Spend time each morning before I get out of bed doing a body check and taking deep breaths before I jump out of bed. (For the record, I’ve recently begun the practice of saying “Thank You God” each morning when I wake up.) To that practice I feel it is important to take a few minutes and  check in with your body – stretch and acknowledge how you are feeling.

2. Stop with the electronics – we all do it. I won’t pull my phone out when I meet my friends. Those updates don’t matter.  When I’m watching tv, I don’t need to be playing on my laptop. It’s either one or the other.

3. Spend time outdoors. Nothing helps me to be more present in life than acknowledging the beauty of nature.

4. Make a To Do lList – my lists have been scattered and I consolidating them will help me to stay focused and more present.

5. Meditate – I do not have a regular meditation practice but it helps me to spend as little as 5 minutes  meditating.

What are some ways you can be more present in your life?  Please share in the comments below or create a list in your own journal.

Great ideas Sheryl. What do you do during your body check? That sounds interesting. Have a great day!

I love this. Such great reminders for my own life!

There is so much I can do on my own journey. This is a great place to start.
