We Ran Away – to Oak Haven Resort

Last week, James surprised me by sharing he had made reservations for a short stay at Oak Haven Resort  in Sevierville, Tennessee.
Only a short three hour drive from Lexington, Oak Haven is a beautiful resort with over 100 cabins (ranging from one bedroom to seven bedrooms) located outside Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We were fortunate that this weekend we could get a cabin for only two nights as the minimum stay is typically 3 nights.

We’ve been going to Oak Haven  at least once a year for the past 15 years. Over the years we have stayed at multiple cabins in the resort and have stayed during all four seasons. Each cabin is decorated with its’ own style, comes with a full kitchen, beautiful view, wrap around porch and hot tub. Several years ago, the resort added a spa which offers wonderful spa services along with a sauna. During the summer, the pool is open and year round the resort has multiple trails to hike and a lake for fishing. It is only a short drive to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the the Smoky Mountain National Park.

It is possible to come to the resort and not leave the property during your stay. Stock your kitchen and you are good to go.  Oak Haven is the one place I can go and truly relax. Unlike at home, I don’t have to worry about something that I should be doing, such as laundry or that closet that needs to be straightened.

This weekend we stayed at Cabin 31, a one bedroom that we have stayed at two previous times. This a beautiful cabin located near the spa (you can walk down the hill) with a fantastic view of morning sunrises. We were unable to leave  Lexington until Saturday afternoon and planned for dinner at the cabin and stayed in for the rest of the night.

On Sunday, we ventured out for a fantastic brunch and a few hours of outlet/retail therapy at Tanger Outlet Mall in Pigeon Forge. We returned to the cabin in time for the Broncos-Patriots game and spent the afternoon/evening watching football. I also took a short walk during half time and spent time catching up on magazine reading and spent an enormous amount of time on Pinterest. We ended the night with a fantastic steak dinner (grilled at the cabin).

There is nothing like taking time away from your every day life to help you to slow down. I never want to leave from a trip to Oak Haven and always look forward to our next stay.

Other cabins that we recommend staying at include: Cabin 48 (our absolute favorite), Cabin 36, and Cabin 71, (the view from the side porch swing is beautiful – and there are two swings). Regardless of the cabin that you choose – you will appreciate the beauty of the mountains and taking some time to get away.
Never forget to take some time to get away and relax.

Sounds like somewhere I would love to go! We went to the Lake Lure region of NC several years ago and it was beautiful!

Holly – NC is beautiful. We have gone to Asheville some but always end up staying at the cabin in TN. We keep saying we are going to buy a one bedroom (it’s managed by the resort staff). We keep dreaming!
