Summer Decorations

I don’t hide it from anyone that summer is my absolute favorite time of the year. I pulled out all of my decorations the week before Memorial Day and I love that I will be spending the next three months enjoying them.  Today I wanted to provide a short decor tour.
This year is the first time I have used yellow flowers on our front porch. As a result, I built this wreath upon the old grapevine wreath and added burlap as a base. For color I used the yellow burlap ribbon and a variety of flowers from Hobby Lobby. I do try to save flowers and reconstruct from what I have made in the past but most everything is new with the exception of the branches and the base. The yellow makes me smile and is a happy color!
The front hall includes another wreath I created along with sand, candles and shells.
This wreath was built on a styrofoam base and I wrapped it with old twine. The burlap net ribbon is new but all of the shells (except the starfish) are natural shells I have collected from our beach trips. This wreath is certainly a keeper.
The three tiered candy container was my Nanny’s and in each dish I have sand from the different beaches where we have traveled. (I take a small bag of sand from each beach and display the sand in layers for our guest bathroom).
These sand dollars were purchased a few years ago and I try to store them without damaging.
The buffet table in the formal dining room includes my collection of shells.
The formal dining room is simple with a runner from Pottery Barn (very old) and candles. The shell in the center was given to me by a friend who knows how much I love the beach.

I’m in love with these pieces on our kitchen table. Over Memorial Day, we made a trip to the Pottery Barn Outlet and I was able to get these pieces for a great price. Something I will keep forever and be happy about.
This pillow cover is fun and happy!
Finally, a snapshot of the layered sand (it is part of our guest bathroom year round) from over the past 5 years. I keep smaller bottles of the sand where I write the year and where it came from.
Throughout the house I do change the flowers and colors depending upon the season and add fun pieces that play off of the time of the year. Summer decorations do not have to be expensive and can often be used in multiple ways.
Do you decorate for the season? What are some of your favorite items?
