Scenes From A Weekend

I write this post from a place of pure exhaustion.

However, it is the good type of tired. The tired where one knows it was a good day and although there is no energy left, every molecule of energy given was worth it. How does one make a life? It is in the everyday details, the comings and goings of daily life.  Most importantly in the enjoying and truly being in the moment. This weekend I had the pleasure of truly being in the moment and for that I am grateful. I had hoped to share photos but they will have to come later in the week. For now, here is a short snippet of some scenes from my weekend! (Follow me on Instagram @howtomakealife to stay up to date.)
  • Had a fantastic two hour walk with a dear friend.
  • Ran regular weekend errands on a beautiful sunny day.
  • Drove to Louisville with friends and had a fantastic dinner (there will be photos).
  • Stood in line with the above mentioned friends for THREE HOURS to view over 5,000 Jack-o-lanterns.
  • Did not get home until 2:30 in the morning after viewing these 5,000 Jack-o-lanterns. (I am not a young as I used to be).
  • Enjoyed breakfast at home with my husband on Sunday.
  • Spent a great afternoon at a local orchard with my husband.
  • Joined the new YMCA that is finally opening in our neighborhood in the next week.
  • Made a gluten free apple crisp with apples from the orchard.
  • Took a long detox bath.
It is now Sunday evening as I write this and I acknowledge there are so many things that have not been done. However, these things will fall into place as they need. [tweetthis twitter_handles=”@how2makealife”]Life is meant to be lived.[/tweetthis] Life  is not meant to be consumed with constant errands or tasks. I plan to share more of my weekend later this week (because everyone needs to see photos of 5,000 jack-o-lanterns). For now, I encourage you to make sure you are taking time to live your life. Enjoy the sun. Appreciate the blue sky. Feel the fall air. Rest when you need to.

Happy Monday!!

That sounds like an amazing weekend, Sheryl! Even the waiting in line part ;-). I know three hours can fly by when you’re laughing with friends.

Lately I’ve been deciding to ditch all the housewifey stuff like cleaning and laundry and replacing it with outdoor adventures. I just keep feeling more than ever that life is too short to spend an entire day cleaning and running errands. I feel so much happier lately, since I’ve taken on this new attitude 🙂

    Have a great week!

I love that attitude. There is always going to be something that needs to be done but I feel as long as my house is “clean” then the rest doesn’t matter. If one comes to my house and wants to talk about things, then they don’t need to be there! XO

What a beautiful post, Sheryl <3 and yrs!! Do share pictures of these pumpkins–I've been longing to do this myself (not sure I could stay up until 2:30am though–props to you!)

Sounds like a wonderful weekend, and here's to a great week ahead!

I think it has taken me all week to get over staying up to 2:30 am (I am feeling my age!). I shared a few pumpkins on my Friday post, I hope you will stop by and check them out.

Exactly! Our weekend was the same and I actually took the day off today to get caught up. But you can’t spend your weekend indoors cleaning and running errands, right? Can’t wait to see pics! We always say we’re going to go to the pumpkin spectacular, but the long lines always make me change my mind… curious to know if it’s worth it? We may need to go on a weeknight!

If you can swing going to the Jackolantern Spectacular – I would try to do it before it closes. I do think it was incredible. Why do we always need a day to recover from our weekend.

Sounds like a wonderful kind of exhaustion! That’s the kind that makes me happy. I had a similar weekend, totally busy and filled to the brim, but oh so good!
    Happy Monday xxx

There is something about that type of exhaustion – it’s so good to feel sometimes.
