I am extremely late on writing today’s post for Five on Friday and almost thought about skipping. The weather combined with Mom’s anniversary have not been good for me. However, today I thought I would share five things that I use daily which I inherited (I suppose that’s the best way to say it) from Mom. The reality is I wouldn’t have purchased many of these things if I had not got them from her.
1. Chi Flat Iron
Actually, Mom gave me her flat iron the December before she died. During the winter, the weather can make my hair a little crazy and big (like 80’s big hair). I had bought a cheaper flat iron and wasn’t happy with it and was telling Mom. It was only when she told me to take hers that I even knew she had one. If you use a flat iron, you know this is one of the best.
2. Clarisonic Mia Cleansing Brush
Another product I didn’t know Mom had (and I’m not sure she used it more than once). I used microdermabrasion pads from Neutrogena and scrubs but truly never thought about owning a Clarisonic. As I went through Mom’s things I knew I had to try it. I love it and use it every night.
3. Josie Maran Argan Oil
If you looked at my Mom’s makeup drawer (and cabinet), you would have seen she was more of a beauty product nut than me.(She would have loved Birchbox and some of the others) We didn’t have the same coloring so I couldn’t use any of her (relatively new) makeup. However, she had two big bottles of Josie Maran’s Argan Oil. It’s a little expensive and I would have never purchased it for myself.
I am now hooked and will probably use it forever. I have dry skin during the winter and not once have I struggled with dry skin on my face this winter. It’s a great moisturizer for your skin, cuticles and hair.
4. Dyson Vaccum Cleaner
After Mom purchased her Dyson, she kept telling me I HAD to get one. There was no way I could justify purchasing a $ 500.00 vacuum when I had one. Nonetheless, I took this as my own and use it all of the time. (These two cats have a lot of hair) Once you use a Dyson, you truly don’t want to use another vacuum cleaner. 5. Coffee Cup
Trust me when I say that James and I did not need any coffee mugs. However, Mom had two of these adorable mugs. I think I was first drawn to the color (I was drawn to everything green last year) but I also love the feel of the mug. Although it hasn’t become “my favorite”, I do find myself reaching for it over the others when it is clean. Of course, I have so many significant items which belonged to my Mom but I thought it would be nice to share some of the items which have become a part of my daily routine. I know she is with me every day and each time I use one of these items I am reminded of how she continues to take care of me. Have a Great Weekend!
