April Goals

April Goals

I am hopeful than where ever you may be reading this from that you have been fortunate enough to have sunny days and warm weather. I’ve shared several times over the past month that for many reasons, this Spring is different for me and I am truly able to to appreciate the blessing of the rebirth of flowers, trees and the beautiful return of green to the grass.

Just as February was difficult, March started off rough in Central Kentucky with another 15 inches of snow. It truly felt like the winter that would NEVER,EVER end. Fortunately, new life has begun to spring up around us. I was also fortunate enough to feel that I’ve made some progress on my March goals.

  • I’ve returned to cooking more. Sadly, we’ve simply got out of the routine and were in a rut. My intentions are to return to sharing recipes again.
  • I’ve begun to organize areas of my house that have been neglected. After the death of my Mom and Nanny, I was purposeful in what I kept from each of them. However, this lead to a few rooms and closets that became holding areas. It feels so good to organize.
  • Although my practice is not growing by leaps and bounds, I am seeing a strong return from current clients and having busy weeks.
  • I’m still working on establishing routines but I have begun to work out most mornings at 5:30 am.
  • I have not started my container garden (our weather is still too iffy) but I have begun to research what I need to do.
As for the wonderful world of April, I do expect it to be busy.
  • It’s the final month of the college semester which means I will be grading research papers, completing final site visits and basically trying to not go insane.
  • I’m scheduled to present an ethics training and to also record my very first online training course. (It feels a little odd to simply just be talking to a camera)
  • I’ve joined an April Challenge group that my friend Shannon is having. She had one slot left and asked me to join. As I’m trying to do everything I can to Thrive and improve my health and fitness I felt it was a great opportunity (this always goes back to my word of 2014 where I tried to say Hello to new opportunities).
  • I continue to want to organize around my house and slowly downsize my closet.
  • There will be a day at Keeneland (this is the beautiful racing track here in Lexington). We didn’t make it to the Fall meet and it’s a wonderful tradition to have -not just for the beautiful horses but for the people watching.
As for my gratitudes for March
  • I continue to be blessed with wonderful friends. This truly maintains and nourishes me. I’m grateful that despite our busy schedules we continue to make time for each other.
  • I was asked to present a motivational speech to my beloved Junior League of Lexington for May. I’m am excited to have the opportunity to meet with some of the most talented and dedicated women in Lexington and I am honored that I was considered as a speaker.
  • I feel that I am regularly given signs from God that I am doing what I need to be doing. At times it comes in the form of a simply good day, a client succeeding in their goals and other signs that I’m not able to always share in written form. I often question but then I am given an answer.

What are your plans for April?

You had such great goals for March. Somehow around January I got off the habit of setting monthly goals but I love the ones you had of returning to cooking more and establishing a workout routine. I need to do both of those as well, perhaps I’ll plan to set them for my May goals. I am also a bit envious of your container gardening. I want to do that as well but I have no space (tiny city apartment). Hopefully I’ll be able to find a way to squeeze it in somewhere.

Thank You Ashley! It’s so easy to get off track – I do it often but I always remind myself I can get back on track (with a little effort). I had hoped to do more cooking last month but I just haven’t. I’m hoping the warm weather is a motivator. I’m hoping to get at least a few veggies out of my containers – stay tuned! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

I try to be kind to myself and realize that some months are better than others. However, it does help me to stay focused on what I need to accomplish. Would love to support you on your own goals!!

This is awesome. I always love reading your positive take… It really is so refreshing. We were supposed to go to Keeneland Friday but the weather was awful. Hope we can fit a trip in this year. And I think it is awesome that you were asked to present at Junior League! That is so cool! I’ve thought of joining in Lex; nice to know you’re a member! Happy Monday!

Friday was HORRIBLE – but then it seems the opening day of Spring always is. We hope to go this weekend. I love the League and would be glad to introduce you if you are thinking about joining. Have a Great Week.

This always inspires me to make monthly goals, something I rarely do but know is important to do. Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement!

I promise I’m going to get back into the practice!! Knowing others are waiting to see is a great incentive.

I really love that you include the things you are grateful along with your goals. 🙂

Thanks Liz, I practice gratitude daily but I decided last month I wanted to include a quick overview for the month along with my goals. Glad you stopped by.

Wow! Such a packed post! First of all I totally agree- getting out of the habit of cooking is SO easy to do and can be tough to start again. Secondly, I am so impressed that you are getting up at 5:30 to work out! That is NOT easy at all! Your April sounds busy- good luck finishing everything I look forward to reading your recap! Also, I LOVE that you post gratitude with your goals!

I am a morning person -but I have to admit I’m not crazy about the getting up to work out. Sadly, my life has become so hectic that it’s the only time I can fit it in right now. I started including the gratitudes last month because the winter had been so crazy and I wanted to acknowledge there was something good about the month!

My company always has a Keeneland day every spring. Hopefully one of these times we will make it!

I live here in town and sometimes it’s hard for me to get there! However, it’s always worth rearranging the schedule for.

People from our office go, but for us it’s more of an issue of finding childcare for the day so we can go.
