A Full Plate
Over the past month, James and I have implemented that we try at least one new activity/restaurant or event each week. In addition to something new, I’ve been attempting to find a place for everything that I need to do and everything I want to do. As I look at my fall schedule the one phrase that comes to mind is that I have a full plate.
After a weekend of a fun bourbon tasting (new event), shopping, brunch with friends and a great night at a local food event – I am tired in a wonderful way. I returned home Sunday night with some anxiety in regards to the tasks I put off. When one has a full plate, tasks become triaged. Many things get put off until tomorrow or next week. There are moments when I look at the upcoming Fall schedule and wonder if I can do all that I have planned. I worry that I could easily fall into a habit of existing rather than living. This emphasizes the importance of planning new events and scheduling time with friends but also time with myself. You may also find yourself feeling like I do – trying not to be overwhelmed with a full plate as we enter into a new season. Rather than be overwhelmed I encourage you to slow down and be grateful for the tasks and items that make a full plate for you. Yes, there may be a time when you need to make adjustments and changes but having a full plate probably means that you have a job, a family, friends and activities that you care about. Today I’m linking up with Emily’s Grateful Heart Monday because I’m grateful that I do have a full plate and schedule. I’m grateful that I have a house to clean, laundry to complete and grocery shopping to do. I’m grateful that there are jobs that want me. Yes, it can be overwhelming at times but it could also all look much differently. There could always be no job, no house to clean and no money for groceries.Do you find yourself with a full plate? Take some time to be grateful!

I’ve been struggling with this, too, but love your outlook on it! My house is a bit messy after a fun weekend but it’s worth it!
My Nanny use to say “The house isn’t going to go anywhere” and I’ve come to (almost) accept that if you come to my house and it’s not spotless you won’t mind because you truly came to see me!
I can’t believe its almost fall. Where has summer gone? This fall is going to be an interesting one, because my husband and I don’t have any of the same days off. I’m hoping we can work in some fun, and new, activities with our crazy busy schedules! Thanks for sharing 🙂
It seems like summer just began!!! I’m hoping you and your husband can make some time for each other to do those activities.I’m finding that it takes some planning but it is worth it.
It’s so important to take the time to enjoy ourselves and find new experiences. Love this!
Thanks Christine!!
Love this take on being busy! Sometimes I hate it but then I realize that I would be a mess without it- so I need to be grateful instead! Thanks for the reminder!
Gratitude helps us see everything differently!! XOXO
I am having a bit of anxiety about everything on my plate but you are right. Just take each task and get it done.
Taking one task at a time is truly all that we can do! Trust me, I totally understand how you are feeling.
Oh so full as we’re coming into spring Down Under, almost overwhelmingly so. But I figure I’m only overwhelmed because I’ve kept the last month or so very quiet on purpose. Definitely grateful for it all though 🙂 xo
It is easy to be a little overwhelmed when you have kept things calm! So glad you stopped by! XO
Love that perspective – to be grateful for the full plate instead of complaining about it. Thanks for that reminder… I’ll be putting that into use this next week 🙂
Thanks Emily. I keep reminding myself about perspective in life. Hope the week ahead is good for you.
